The art of
banter grace & lollipop is a branding, design, and communication studio that does one thing exceptionally well: we make you look & feel good.
And feeling good is good because good becomes this contagious spirit that changes everything you do, and importantly, everything you achieve.
And to us, that feels really good.
Supergood in fact.
We are optimists.
We believe that humour, play, and inspiration will build a bright, bright future.
Makers of the moment.
Stylists & Strategists.
Artists & Designers.
Innovators & Entrepreneurs.
Collectively, we are makers-of-the-moment.
Be it a place (Retail store, Cafe, Hotel, Olympic stadium, public square, transit station), a campaign that ignites a new conversation, or simply a well executed hello from a thoughtfully designed new brand.
We are designers of powerful first and last(ing) impressions.
Likes are temporary.
Goosebumps are forever.
We believe that Words, Style, Passion, and Ideas are the most important currencies.
They express what you really give a shiitake about.
And this is the foundation for all our work, regardless if you're the new kid on the block or an established global brand. It informs our thinking and crystalizes our creative.
banter grace & lollipop creates intrigue, desire, inspiration, and amusement for the thing you want people to care about in the pursuit of building supergood moments, and thus, supergood brands.
That's a silly name.
Indeed it is. Not only is it silly, it's strategic, as it honours the science & spirit of our approach:
banter // playful, irreverent exchange
grace // beauty & sophistication
lollipop // sweet, simple, unexpected surprises
Today's most adored brands not only know how to play these three instruments, but they balance them beautifully.
And that's our modus operandi.
Because every brand experience has a moment of truth, that split second where one says yes, I want more...or, no thanks, not for me we commit to making that moment a confident yes.
Smaller is bigger.
We keep it small for a reason: to fully understand purpose, we need to be close to the passion. That means working hand-in-hand with founders & decision makers (CEOs, brand leadership etc.).
Small also minimizes the too-many-cooks disease common in creative work. It's more efficient and focused, creating better results sooner.
Where from away and down the street mingle.
Like Hall & Oates.
One part Creative CEO, one part Artist, together a heckuva team that's led big and little brands on their wonderful journeys. From lululemon athletica, IKEA, and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, to Indochino, Raleigh, and the Museum of Vancouver, Robbie MacDonald (Founder & Creative Director) and Jason X Esteban (Art & Design Director) lead all assignments, and, do most of the creative & design themselves (novel, right?).
Like Hall & Oates, we stopped letting ego interfere with our work long ago. We think you'll like the beat.
Movements are more important than logos.
Today, business is dynamic and unconventional, and, to be frank, much harder to stand out and get noticed. And we get this, as we have invented, launched, marketed, operated, and exited our very own modern enterprise. We've been on all sides of a "good idea," we know their shiny — and — their more difficult sides.
We understand the synergies and tension of operating a business and a brand / marketing program. We know how to balance the art of brand building with the science of business.
And today, to make a great impression, it has to be unusual.
We will make you look and feel good.
